| I'd guess they wouldn't be too different to the wii classic controller pro which is perfectly usable but it still isn't a cube controller. |

| Oooh, that is amazing news! Personally Iabsolutely love the Wii u pro controller, but I know several people who flat out refuse to play smash with anything other than a cube pad. |

| "Licenced by Nintendo"? I thought it was going to be some third party PoS. That's pretty good, I've got to admit. Will pick a couple of those up! |

| So, in the same interview where Nintendo France confirmed SMT IV being localised, they also mentioned that Wii U Smash will use NFC figurines.... Someone's getting fired. Crappy Google translation: - Quote :
...And on the output side of games produced by Nintendo, there will obviously be the fighting game Super Smash Bros.. E3 is also an opportunity to show the use of NFC technology [used in Skylanders and Disney Infinity, allowing the use of real objects - here, figurines - in video games] in Nintendo consoles . The NFC will be used in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.

| That's... interesting. Perhaps inevitable. What's your take on that, Axis? Are you an NFP fan, or do you think they're glorified DLC in figurines you don't want? |

| The statement about NFC has now been removed from the original article... My guess is someone spoiled an E3 reveal.
I always thought NFC in Smash was inevitable, really. Its the only Nintendo game with characters from multiple franchises, and an easy way to get figures on the market without having to wait until Specific Kirby title, Specific Zelda title, Specific Pokemon title....... |

| Yep, I agree with you there. Was always likely to be a thing. I think they'll be used to transfer those customisation options, shown so briefly in the Direct, between Wii Us and 3DSes; I think they'll also play a big part in inter-version connectivity. |

| Curious how they'll work as I brought up they'd could be used to bring DLC character's to games like smash. But Mario is all ready in smash, will buying a Mario figure unlock Mario in a Tanooki suit. There's got to be a reason to buy the figures apart from being cool Nintendo figures. |

| Athrun beat me to Friday's news, but here's the rest of the week: - Monday (Little Mac):
"Under certain circumstances, the creatures on this planet appear to grow larger and go berserk. The Pikmin and I must be cautious lest we lose our heads to these beasts."
- Tuesday (Item):
The Assist Trophy now looks like something out of Area 51. Especially considering that "It may emit rainbow-colored lights, or even blink."
- Wednesday (Game Mechanics):
Notice anything odd? Greninja's fetching red palette aside. Yup, the characters in SSB4 are mirrored when they face the opposite direction, so that you're not staring at their backs. I'm... not keen. It works fine with Kirby, but I'd prefer Mario, Greninja, and especially Link to have a dominant hand. Sakurai said it took a lot of work: wasted in my opinion.
- Thursday (Game Mechanics):
A new way of determining alignments in team battles, meaning that you can choose whatever colour you want. Nice!
- Friday (New Character):
Bang go all your hopes for Chrom, then. Based off Radiant Dawn's design, apparently - does that include having a really tiny sword? Still has Aether; still seems to have Counter as well:

| The character stance thing is something that's always been in fighters and seeing this is having a tournament at E3 and likely to be a tournament fighter in the future makes sense to be like that.
Ohh dam you Ike, I know he's fairly well known but seeing how well Awakening has does sales wise and critically, a character from that made so much more sense to me.
Or please do a wii fit trainer a let me play as lucina swapped fro marth in her marth gear. |

| Actually, looking at Samus on Thursday, she doesn't seem to be mirrored. Funny that. |

| That's the 3DS version, so might be different and unlikely to be used in tournaments which I think is why they've done it. |

| To be fair, Sakurai only said, "The leg and arm positions of some characters will automatically be mirrored when facing left or right." Suggests that Link, Samus etc. will maintain orientation. |

| Im really glad Ike made the cut, Radiant Dawn was an excellent continuation of a brilliant story. At least now I can think of those games as I watch one of my favourite series go down the strategic gutter *sigh*. |

I wouldn't say that's for sure just yet, the 3ds version has the4 arena from awakening and awakening was the latest fire emblem, so it would be strange for them to not represent it in any way at all. That said you might be right about it ending chrom's chances, he would make three blue haired lords from fire emblem which is probably one too many. But there's another possible person from awakening who could be chosen, and that character is just as if not more important to the game's story than chrom. So I'm not convinced this is the end of Awakening's chances at a slot, and given male trainer's existence I wouldn't rule out some sort of playable appearance by chrom either. |

| I'm not convinced to be honest, the playable roster for the bigger franchises typically reflect the latest installment in a long running franchise in some way. Link is always in his latest console incarnation for example, as is samus. I think it's entirely possible for awakening to get some sort of representation in the playable lineup, and given awakening is not only the latest fire emblem but also one of if not the best selling title in the franchise I think it's entirely possible it might have been promoted to getting three representatives. Ike may and possibly has damaged Chrom's personal chances of getting in, but I'm not convinced his inclusion means we're automatically not getting a awakening character. |

| So this has been announced, kinda makes those 3rd party licensed controllers coming a bit redundant as they plug into a wiimote might as well use this and use a actual GameCube controller.

| Interesting news about the GC controller, and of course, it opens the door to a port of Sunshine, etc.
Also, Nintendo just released news about the E3 Smash Tournament, but I posted that in the E3 thread. |
