| I might have to give up. I'm in Anor Londo and my PS3 seemingly just cannot handle it. Hopefully it'll behave when I'm connected to the server on Friday, but until then it looks like it's just gonna be me and Monhan. |

| Why's that happening? My PC dropped connection to the servers a fair bit during my Dark Souls playthrough and that never happened. |

| I've been reading up online and it says the PS3 engine just can't handle some of the bigger environments. I can load up my other save no problems. It sucks because I'd gotten so into the game. |

| That's a real shame. Anor Londo is one of my favourite areas, too. |

| Guys, it looks like I'm giving up on DS once again. I'm annoyed because I was absolutely loving it, but it pretty much doesn't work. Hopefully I'll get a chance to play again on PC or something one day but the idea of starting again on PS3 right now, playing through the early game for the third time without even knowing for sure that the game is going to work when I get to Anor Londo.
At least I got a stupid youtube video out of the whole thing. Let's Play Dark Souls- Anor Londo: |

| That was a great video. But that's a real shame about your PS3 woes. I've never heard of that happening before. Are you planning on getting Dark Souls II when it launches on the One? There'll be a ton of new content in that GOTY edition. |

| I am indeed! I picked it up on PS3 but wanted to play through the original first. Looks like that won't be an option though |

| Sad to hear that Drunka, I was hoping to return to this myself but that's a worrying experience... |

| From reading around online it doesn't sound all that common, and starting again does seem to fix it for people. I wouldn't be so frustrated if it weren't such an exquisite game, so give it a go! |

| Aye, it's something I consider every weekend, but I just don't know if I'll be able to get back into it from my current point and I really don't want to start it again. |

| As someone who recently did start again, I'd recommend that approach. The early sections will come surprisingly easily and you'll make better decisions as you go, meaning you'll quickly leapfrog your previous playthrough in a better position. |

| Yeah, that's probably the right way to do it. Might do it over easter weekend to make sure I have the time to commit to it. |

| Yeah, I actually started again about 4 hours into my first playthrough, and knowing how the weapon upgrade system worked and beginning to understand the combat system really made my progress a lot swifter than before. |

| As mentioned elsewhere, that's a very sad Metagame to play Drunka . The thing with Dark Souls is that you'd probably have to check that twice just to see if it's some kind of troll. I hope this doesn't happen when I start playing the first game. Just did the second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm sorry, I'm still on a high from the achievement) |

| Congrats Jimbob! Tell us a little about your playthrough - what was the trickiest boss/area for you to overcome?
It was always the Lost Bastille for me - brick hard boss and quite confusing to traverse. |

| Welp - I was a bit annoyed with myself. Any other adventure (Zeldas, Elder Scrollses) I spend too long (and to the annoyance of any other spectators) making sure I've not missed a doorway or path. In Dark Souls, I failed so badly at this all the way through. - A brief list of my failings, in chronological order:
- I skipped the tutorial section initially as the misty doors looked proper scary
- I spent ages dying at the tower of Heide, as I'd completely missed the path to the Forest of Fallen Giants
- The Pursuer was probably my toughest boss - it took be dozens of goes to beat him, and that's the closest I came to bailing out.
- I also lost a load of souls to the above; as you can see into his arena beforehand, and he wasn't there, I thought the misty door was a bluff. Nope. Whoops.
- It took me a while to realise that killing the dudes in Heide made the switches appear. (Did I ever tell you about the Legend of Zelda?)
- Oh and the boss in the cathedral was an arsehole as well.
- I was clever enough to blow up the wall to McDuff's workshop, but I definitely "got stuck" before I discovered the ruined path that goes off at an angle, leading to the boss route. Actually did alright with the sinner though.
- I bought the Silvercat ring and took the "breaking ankles" route down to the Grave of Saints.
- Once in the Gravy of Saints, I shoved a Lockstone into an acid pool, and happily stood in it as it destroyed all my stuff.
- Fuck you rat army. Fuck you.
- The Gutter was the worst bit. Dark + Falling off. Apparently in the SOTFS upgrade on the new consoles it's darker. No thanks.
- I thought the drop down to the Black Gulch was a trap, so spent another hour traversing the Gutter before trying this again.
- I nearly bailed out at the hand-eye things in the Gulch. (Actually, after the Total Wipeout-style run, I found the boss quite easy).
- I got my first fragrant branch at the Gulch, and therefore made it as hard as possible to get to the Shaded Woods.
- I didn't know what the coffin thing did, until I took all my armour off for a jump. "Wait, I didn't make my character with a plait. Or tits."
- I died in the misty forest bit so many times
- The giant spider took quite a bit of work as well.
- I did all of the Gulch/Woods bits before I found out that there was another path from the original route to Heide - thanks to bonfire warping, I hadn't walked down that tunnel for hours. In fact, days.
- I insisted that you couldn't hide in the alcoves when fighting the guy in the chariot at Undead Purgatory. "Too obvious" I thought.
- I tried 4 or 5 times to kill the boss at Earthen Peak, and did resort to a Wikia check. Oh, you can burn the windmill? Oh. (In all fairness, that really isn't very clear).
- I also met Gilligan the Ladderman there. So that's how you're supposed to get to the Grave of Saints.
- In the Iron Keep, I missed the ladder that gets you to the last bonfire and the "switch the flamethrowers off" lever until several failed attempts to get through. (It took a few goes to get rid of Dry Bowser).
- It took me 2 hours to realise that I hadn't made the stone dude in Drangleic Castle do anything, so the lift to the top didn't appear.
- Falling in the water at the Shrine of Amana or whatever it's called.
- Ringing the "make more bad guys appear" bell MYSELF, in the Undead Crypt
- I let out the evil version of the Royal Sorcerer (which in all fairness... I mean... who didn't?)
- I couldn't work out how to give the dragon scale to the ancient dragon, and discarded it
- I got Carhillion to go to Majula 2 hours before I defeated the final boss (I SWEAR I spoke to him in my first visit to the Wharf, and he was just being a grumpyguts).
- I didn't really get the ending.

| About the Sorceror - I didn't trust him. After Dark Souls I and Knight Lautrec, I learned not to trust every NPC. |

| I also let out Royal Sorcerer Navlaan despite seeing all the signs telling me not to, I thought: "Oh this is clearly a bluff I'll let this nice chap out" and he of course proceeded to ambush and kill me at the worst moments multiple fucking times. |

| This is a great piece/interview with Hidetaka Miyazaki, I especially love the line about the enemy designs in Bloodborne. He truly is a remarkable talent. http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/mar/31/bloodborne-dark-souls-creator-hidetaka-miyazaki-interview |

| Right, let me kick this off by saying: PC Gaming can do one.
But yes, after three failed attempts on PS3 I am working my way through Dark Souls on PC. I've rang both bells, killed the butterfly, Sif and the Hydra, hunted down every knight I can find and levelled up/ upgraded my sword sufficiently to replace the Drake Sword. I saved just now, in my sick Lannister-looking Eastern Armour, at the bonfire near Andre. Next time I play I'll bash through Sen's Fortress, then its off to Anor Londo. If I don't beat it this time, then I'm definitely cursed by some kind of sorcery. |
