| Pretty sure Yoshi's Island is my least favourite platformer of all time. I've tried to get into it but the levels are a slog, the art style is hideous and it's just not fun. |

| Nut's it's the best 2D MARIO platformer there is and one of the best of all time along . The art Style is what makes it so good it's not as bland as other 2D Marios from the 8 & 16 bit era. |

| Somebody hasn't tried YI2! Which genuinely would be my least favourite platformer, if I hadn't gone and bought Yoshi's Universal Gravitation like a muppet.
The original's pretty good in my opinion. Speaking of opinions, you're pretty... dogmatic with yours, Andy! Personally I think it looks a sight better than SMW. Not as good overall though. |

| The first yoshi's island is brilliant but for my money no other character controls as satisfyingly as mario. |

| Naa at least Journey has the aesthetics down. It doesn't hold up against Mario 1,2,3, Land, Land 2, NSMB, NSMB Wii, NSMBU though mas so I don't think it's the best maybe better than world... I tend to stay away from Yoshi platformers because I don't like the ones everyone loves. I'll probably take a punt on Yarn Yoshi though if that turns out as good as it looks. |

Bits where you're wrong in bold. Not sure about 3 because I never got that far into it. SML and its sequel have aged too much to compete. |

| I don't think they've aged too badly truth be told, I played them both within the last year and I still love them (I love Land more now that I can beat it). There could be a slight case of rose tinted glasses there though. As for NSMB I didn't think U was that much of an improvement over the previous games which I loved so I'm not sure why that one didn't get a highlight. |

| Only Mario Bros 3 can touch Yoshi Island in 2D Mario terms. |

Well, on my 3DS I can play: - The Legend of Zelda - Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX - The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages - The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons - The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition - The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds It's a pretty good console for Zelda games - Quote :

IMO, the only Mario game that comes close to the first Sonic the Hedgehog is Super Mario 64. The best 2D Mario is Yoshi's Story. |

I'll admit to that one being a bit weird. I just enjoyed NSMBU more than the others - much more than Wii, especially, which was designed for four-player, so its levels felt empty in one-player. NSMBU had more variety, I think; more interesting levels, and the Squirrel Suit was pretty fun. And of course there's the HD, although I barely noticed it apart from the Van Gogh level. EDIT: And Miiverse. Oh goodness Miiverse. It added so much to that game. All this discussion has made me realise, again, how not-very-fond I am of Mario's 2D efforts. I feel that Donkey Kong, Rayman, and even Kirby have all outdone his best (SMW) with theirs (DKCR/TF, Legends, and Epic Yarn). |

Only just seen this, would be up for 3.5, could be good after these votes are done and smash direct. We could talk about them and how great it is to have Tails in Smash bros If I'm then I don't know what Andy is . |

| The Balladeer Award for Best Character in a 3DS game- Fifth:
PalutenaPoints: 6 First places 0 You say: "witty, occasionally snarky, but mostly made of heart." I say: I enjoyed what I saw from her but I have played a shamefully small amount of KIU. I'll rectify that soon... (maybe)
- Fourth:
MalloPoints:7 First places0 You say: "Fat sumo wrestler but completely loveable. I still hope he'll be in Smash." I say: Charming little chap who thoroughly deserves a spot on this list.
- Third:
IsabellePoints: 8 First places 1 You say: "she mimicked Iwata on a Nintendo Direct, what do you want? Always seems to be happy, despite the fact I clearly don't know where is a sensible place to put a wind turbine." I say: I'm sure as far as Animal Crossing characters go she's lovely. RustyPoints: 8 First places0 You say: "Controversial perhaps but I really like his game and he has more of a personality than most." I say: A wonderful newcomer, there wasn't a lot to him but he was incredibly loveable.
- Second:
Professor Hershel LaytonPoints: 10 First places 0 You say: "despite the faeces dumped on him in both 3DS games, Layton remains the gentleman's gentleman." I say: A worthy placement for a brilliant character. Whilst his 3DS antics may not have reached the heights of his DS adventures, he has remained a joy throughout.
- First:
LuigiPoints: 27 First places 4 You say: "The cut-scene I remember most vividly is Luigi finding the portal thing, sticking his arm through, and waving at himself. That alone was enough to secure his place in my heart, although his general demeanour was just as endearing. "Bad doggie!" he says pathetically into the air. Mario's got nothing on this." "I've always had a lot of time for the cowardly little clown, and he had some great moments this year in M&L and Luigi's Mansion. What a lad." "the super-expressive Luigi from Luigi's Mansion 2 was an easy first choice." "Year of Luigi aside, I thought he played a fantastic role in Luigi’s Mansion 2. Yes, odd choice I know given the game’s hardly narrative and story driven, but Luigi is the anti-Mario in a way, cowardly, more human, even referred to as Nintendo’s Aardman. He’s just so endearing to be with, Next Level Games’ expert animation filling every moment with hilarity and pity." I say: A worthy winner, why do they even bother with Mario when this wonderful chap is on the scene outdoing him every time. A fitting result for the Year of Luigi.
That's your lot for today, come back tomorrow for eShop and innovation!

| How did the votes, work on that as thought everyone would just send one vote.
And you don't have points down for mallo. |

| Go Weegee, go Weegee! A thoroughly deserving first place. That said, some of the other placings baffle me. Rusty, a great character? Did the final cut-scene make up for him being a silent uninteresting heap of junk for the rest of the game? At least Mallo emanated natural cuteness. And Palutena, best KIU character? Don't make me laugh. Did those who submitted one vote get first-place points? Also, I'm assuming that the system has changed: in previous threads, Isabelle's first place would have got her lone third. |

| I didn't realise they were the rules in the old thread I like the idea of them being equal though, who is to say someone thinking it's the best should outweigh multiple people saying it's great! Single votes did get the full 5 and count as a first, it was still the thing that stood out above all in their eyes so I saw no reason why not to. |

Perfectly possible with quality games throughout. The top two were in my vote: Metroid Fusion gets recommended to anyone who'll listen, and The Minish Cap is awesome. As for the character vote - an easy win. No other character has been as expressive as Luigi on 3DS up to press. Roll on the next results! |
