| I thought that Gravity was okay. As ZJ says, it had no story at all (and I would say that story is slightly more important in a film than a Mario game!), but nor did I like Sandra Bullock's character much. "My character development is my dead child!" I did find her little grunts as she spun rather endearing, though - she did feel suitably out of her depth.
See up for my opinions on The LEGO Movie. |

| Gravity might not have been Shakespeare but it had me on the edge of my seat throughout. There's room for different kinds of film and it did what it did phenomenally well. |

| I'll agree that it kept its tenterhooks well into me throughout, but that's not usually a category I rate films highly by. I agree that if it is, Gravity is a must-watch. ("Tenterhooks are hooks in a device called a tenter." Thanks Wikipedia. ) |

| "A category you rate films highly by" sounds irrelevant to me - surely it just depends if you enjoyed it, or were hooked by it, or were astounded/impressed/aroused/etc by it?
I thought it was great, but then again I saw it IN 3D IN THE BIGGEST IMAX IN THE WORRRLD |

I didn't mean "when I'm reviewing them": I mean personally. I will prefer a film with good story and characters over one that's really tense. I'm not sure how much arousal potential Gravity has, though. I know that Sandra Bullock's in skimpy clothing for a lot of it, but she also looks haggard and upset and spends half her time almost suffocating. |

That's what I meant, though - you said "not usually a category I rate films highly by", which was an odd turn of phrase for how much you enjoyed a film i.e. I didn't think personal enjoyment of a film had anything to do with what it achieved in certain "categories", rather it was more of an "I liked it" or "I didn't like it" kind of deal. |

| I'd like to retract my previous statement of Gravity being "a load of space wank", I feel sambuca shots prompted a rash review of a film I've yet to see. |

With Gravity, it was easy to break down why I didn't like it as much as some; and it's due to it excelling in certain categories I care less about than other categories it did badly in. Maybe "category" sounds a bit stilted, but I think the point is sound. |

| Gravity was probably the best film I saw last year alongside Wreck-It Ralph, but then I only see half a dozen films a year so I'm probably not the best person to ask. Also: I saw How To Train Your Dragon for the first time last year, and I adored that too.
Like Buska, Gravity had me on the edge of the seat from the moment shit got serious to the ending. One of those films that did what it did very well indeed. |

| Wreck-It Ralph trampled on those two for me. I hadn't felt like a film was so aimed at me for a long time. |

| I definitely feel an Incredibles sequel is warranted. Cars was a mistake to return to, and I'm concerned for Finding Nemo's sequel. But with The Incredibles, there's so much for them to play with there. I mean come on; it's Pixar superheroes! They'll probably poke a bit of fun at the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well, I'd imagine. |

| I've just got sent a £20 voucher from ASDA because I'm that good. So as they suck for niche games, so no demon gaze preorder from them.
I'm looking at Blu Ray's and because of my discount on top I've basically got £22.22 to spend, so can buy two films or maybe a set & ONM.
So out of these what should I buy, I've not seen any of them:
Hunger Games & Catching Fire set Thor: The Dark World Gravity Riddick Machete Kills Pacific Rim World War Z

| Hunger Games & Catching Fire set Top stuff, im a big fan. The books are better, natch, but you can't see Jennifer Lawrence in a book. Thor: The Dark World Fun romp. Depends on how much you enjoyed the first Thor and the other Marvel films. Gravity Great thriller. Get it watched. Riddick Haven't seen this, but Chronicles was a cheese fest so I don't expect too much from this one. Machete Kills Fun in the same way Segal films at 1 am on Channel 5. Pacific Rim Fucking love this film. 90 minutes of robots punching dinosaurs through buildings. World War Z Not watched this, but everything I've seen and heard makes it seem like guff.

I think that Mas is a big Marvel fan, but I loved this despite not caring for Avengers, or even so much for its predecessor. Lots of Loki. The villain's rubbish (the villain that's not Loki, anyway), but the rest of it is fun enough. Just don't expect the main plot to deliver much. |

| The thing for me about the first one was all the fish - out - of - water Thor stuff, which you don't really get in this one. I could honestly take or leave Lori. It was still good fun, though. |

| Another that prefers Thor to Thor 2 here. Thor 2's villain sucked, despite being played by Christopher Eccleston, and it just seemed stretched the first couple of times I watched it.
In any case, I prefer Captain America. The Winter Soldier is coming... can't wait! |

| Bleeeeeeeeeeah. The first Cap'n film bored me practically to tears. The best things to come out of the entire Cap'n "thing" were the "I understood that reference" .gif from the Avengers and the Loki-becomes-Cap'n bit in Thor DW. - Buskalilly wrote:

| Cap is easily my favourite non - spidey Marvel hero. He was good in avengers and his own movie was great. The ww2 setting, the naiveté... he's like a fallible superman with added political intrigue. |

Thank f*** - one of the only franchises in which it makes perfect sense to have another story, and I thought they weren't going to do it. This is actually happy news for once. |
