I'm serious. Apparently interest in the Sony headset shot up after this was announced. That's as likely to be the Starbucks Effect than it is any (mainstream) rejection of Facebook's involvement- raising the profile of all VR headsets by virtue of being such a big player. |

| Wonder if it come to PS4VR now as Minecraft is coming to PS4 anyway and would seem a waste to just scrap VR Minecraft.
I'm not sure if I would actually would want to play Minecraft in VR but that's a different question entirely. |

| I didn't see the point in it for gaming, I certainly don't see what social media wants it for. Webcam chats or something? |

| I think it's more the fact that Oculus was talking about being an open platform for the consumer, yet they've sold out to possibly one of the mst anti-consumer megacorporations out there.
Seriously, all Sony needs to do now is say that their VR will be PC compatible and they'll have garnered support again by capitalising on someone else's fuck-up. "Sony - we're slightly competent!" |

| Zuckerberg in his presser said he sees VR as the next big thing in computing like Smartphones.
I can get smartphones being big in a social way but even in actuall computing not really and same with VR. Can only see it working for games which have to be First Person or simulators eg going to The Louvre without leaving my house. I could understand more if there bought a rival to google glasses. |

| I wouldn't mind some links to some of those stories Mas - the AC:U one in particular.
Also, that Wolfenstein special edition doesn't bother me all too much. It's allowing for a separate purchase of the goodies that come with the game, and it clearly states on the purchase page that it doesn't come with the game. |

| Ed Fries: "I left Microsoft soon after the Rare acquisition so it's hard for me to answer these questions," he said.
"Clearly things didn't turn out as we hoped when we acquired them."
Also, he's cynical about VR, but that's not as interesting. |

| Amazon just unveiled their console (?). Its called Fire TV and is basically an Ouya/Apple TV streaming box with exclusive Android-quality games. In other words, not the Hardcore AAA Next-gen PS4 beater certain quarters were expecting.
Oh, and they're also emulating the SEGA Saturn because you can already buy it. |

| "Made in Britain" Apparently Fire TV can predict what you will want to watch next, can act as a karaoke machine and has voice search. It looks neat but its not something that I would be interested in. I wonder what kind of quality the games will be? |

I wasn't that far off when I said it'd be called "Kindle Something", then- I just got the wrong half of the existing product's name. |

| So the Amazon console is real and is called the Fire TV,
It use a custom android system and is streaming box like Apple TV etc but uses all of Amazon's services and has games such as Minecraft on it.
Here's amazon's page, which compares it to other things for one.
And There's this presser
Fire TV is a tiny box that plugs into your HDTV. It's the easiest way to enjoy Netflix, Prime Instant Video, Hulu Plus, WatchESPN, low-cost video rentals, and more. With instant access to over 200,000 TV episodes and movies, plus all your favorite subscriptions and streaming services, you can watch what you want, when you want. If you're a Prime member, you get unlimited access to thousands of popular movies and TV shows, including exclusives like Downton Abbey, The Americans, Alpha House, and Under the Dome.
Fire TV has voice search that actually works. The old way of searching with a TV remote—scrolling and clicking one letter at a time on an alphabet grid—is painful. With Fire TV you simply speak the title, actor, or genre into the remote and you're done.
Fire TV may be tiny on the outside, but it has huge hardware specs on the inside. It has a powerful quad-core processor, dedicated GPU, 2 GB of memory, and dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi. With a fast, fluid interface, high definition 1080p video, and Dolby Digital Plus surround sound, Fire TV looks—and sounds—amazing. We also added an exclusive new feature called ASAP that predicts what movies and TV episodes you'll want to watch and gets them ready to stream instantly. No one likes waiting for videos to buffer.
As a bonus, we also added games. With Fire TV you can play blockbuster titles like Minecraft, The Walking Dead, Monsters University, the Amazon exclusive Sev Zero, plus great free games. There are over a hundred titles to explore, with thousands more coming soon. These games are a great value—the average price of paid games is only $1.85.
Here's the list of current games.

| The Android Sonic ports are actually really well made.
Also, time to get The Walking Dead working on my Nexus 7. The Amazon App Store says it "isn't compatible", but I've bought it for £0.00 so I'm going to install it anyway. |

| GameSpy are shutting down all servers at the end of May.
Following on from the Wii/DS online shutdown (which is related to GameSpy), it looks like hundreds of PC games will follow suit, unless the games get patch or third party methods are found (there is a program which tricks the LAN mode of a PC game into connecting to a server). |
