| "Hidden femininity"? Who knew perfume could help spoil a favourite character. |

| I viewed it as a compliment to Mikasa to be honest. |

I actually don't trust her. What's a sweet pretty nice girl even doing in the military? Much less joining what amounts to the suicide brigade. I could easily ( and probably am) be wrong of course, but I just don't trust her yet. |

| So... lemme know when you've watched 23. Oh, and for Jay, it's the one with the spike-ring. |

| To be honest I've been expecting her to be female Titan for so long I'd started thinking of them as the same person about two episodes ago. That said the tension in that last scene was just incredible, once again the show gets me on the edge of my seat with talking alone. And I really did not expect Annie to be that... demented I guess I would call it. And seconding the music placement, Kyojin Shinko fit the scene perfectly, as did that as yet unreleased track. They seriously know how to place the music in this series to maximize the emotional impact of the scenes, and the music rocks too. Finally to wrap up my opinion of the weekly episode post, bonus wallpaper of Mikasa being badass. - taged to prevent potential future page loading issues:

| I did not get what was going on there. Her breaking into laughter and that. What's that all about? |

| I thought it was because they'd backed her in to a corner and she knew it. |

| This was what it was like in the manga: However, apparently the anime facial expression is closer to what the manga author originally was going to go for before he changed it. From manga author Hajime Isayama: "An embarrassed smile/laugh made by a juvenile (eighth grade syndrome) character that I made up, until now, who’s been blamed/pointed at and has sadly been turned upon. She’s feeling relief/release from the need to keep lying. And becoming a normal sixteen year old girl." I prefer the manga's take on this - it seems much more fitting with what Annie's character had been so far, there's no been no indication of that juvenile side of her so far. |

| I think I prefer the anime take. She is still a teenager, after all. |

| Fair enough - I prefer chilling demented like in that last frame of the manga excerpt as opposed to unhinged demented like in the anime. |

| Both fit her pretty well in my opinion. She can be chilling, but she's shown in the past when things get stressful her shell cracks, like when she had a complete panic attack when Levi goaded her, or her terror when she was facing Eren, or her crying when she was finally defeated. I found the laughing chilling as well so I think both versions have the desired impact. EDIT: on second thoughts no I'll just edit like normal. Is it just me or is Eren a lot less angry since the Trost arc? It just feels like he hasn't been all " I'll kill all the Titans! " for far too long, I liked the monster aspects of him and have been wondering where they've got to I guess. |

| If this had been following the manga faithfully, you wouldn't have got monster Eren. - Spoiler:
Instead of getting crushed, getting the pep talk from Jean and Armin then going psycho Eren, he instead transforms after Mikasa and Armin go on their suicide distraction run as he doesn't want to make the wrong choice again. He explodes from the ground and basically Shoryukens Annie's lower jaw clean off. Battle ensues. I don't know which I preferred. On the one hand, the anime's take on events meant that we got the brilliant battle scenes with the Survey Corps taking on Annie and terrifying, terrifying Hanji. On the other hand, the manga's take on events has a bit of character development for Eren. Instead of basically reverting to "I WILL KILL ALL TITAAAAAAAAAAANS", his motivation for transforming is different, and more mature. Still, regardless of what changed, it's still a belter of an episode. Season finale next week... Also, this:

| To be fair, the scene with the Survey Corpses (see what I did there?) flashes through his mind in the anime. He's obviously still upset at letting them die, and that helps to motivate him. And then he compounds that by getting angry again. Everybody wins. Oh, and the throwback at the beginning reminds me that we did get a bit of psycho-Annie as well, after she'd finished laughing.
That .gif is great though. About time that Mikasa started getting a bit snippy with him, the moany bastard. |

| Watching Eren bite himself repeatedly was painful. Mikasa I'm in two minds about, she earns points for being badass again and loses them for her unfounded jealousy of Annie. Rogue Titan was awesome. Looking forward to next week, that preview sounded very ominous. |

I didn't get jealousy, actually - just getting frustrated at her brother/crush being a whiny git. Although now that you've mentioned it and I've seen Jay's .gif, I'm thinking that you're probably right and am substantially less impressed. |

| Author says he wants to end series in 20 volumes. Sounds good to me, everything I've seen so far seems to point that he has the series actually planned out, and those kind of series are always the ones hit worst when they go on indefinitely, and 20 volumes is a good number. The question is will he keep to it or will he bow to the pressure he is no doubt experiencing to keep what is now a cash cow running as long as possible. |
