Attack on Titan Thread (Contains Spoilers)

Which raises the question: are there other outlets of human resistance elsewhere in the world, i.e. not situated in neo-Germany?

Isn't it implied that humanity within the walls is the entirety of humanity?

That's the beauty about this series, literally anything can happen. Personally I reckon whenever they get to that basement they're going to find zilch in terms of answers and the real answers are outside the walls.

There was that cannibal tribe the crazy one with the glasses names her captured titans after- if that tribe were, ahem, 'real' then there's no reason why there couldn't be pockets of people here and there and that simply based on the law of averages some would have been successful enough to grow into neo-Germany levels.

Fun fact: I was introduced to the cannibal tribe of Sawney Bean whilst working in the Edinburgh Dungeons then shortly after was exposed to it again with the Titan Sawney and Bean in Attack on Titan. I'm sure there's a name for that phenomenon.

In some Attack on Titan news there have been a variety of announcements for more Attack on Titan material bound for the west.  To kick things off Verticle has picked up the Light Novel series Before the Fall, meanwhile Kodansha has announced they will be releasing the Before the Fall manga and No Regrets spinoff manga.  They also announced they have the licence for the Attack on Titan:Junior High spinoff and INSIDE & OUTSIDE guidebooks.

Someone's made an Attack on Titan fangame, and it looks pretty fun! If the 3DS title is anything like this, then it might be alright.

Also I got my copy of the second soundtrack today, a nice addition to the first soundtrack.  It's mostly paino melodies and atmospheric tracks but this one is a standout, track four is as well.  Even though most of it's quiet I really love this soundtrack myself.  The first soundtrack (commercially available) is mostly the more epic tracks in nature and the second has the much needed tone setting quiet tracks, and it's structured really nicely as well with the first track throwing you head first in to the action, then the second track toning things down and getting very creepy and from there the soundtrack settles in to a nice flow ending with an uplifting track and piano melody.

Goddammit why was that so funny?  

All the parodies are great, but I can't help feeling that the second theme song has been unfairly overshadowed. Granted, it's not as good, but I still lose it every time when it shifts into a major key halfway through.

I think they got the two OPs the wrong way around, myself.

I prefer the second theme personally.  I just love the whole anthem vibe to it and how it feels like it fits with the Survey Corp basically being the last remnants of mankind that actually has a chance of freeing humanity from both the Titan threat and its own vices.

I don't have anything to add to this thread other than AOT is the best series I've seen for years. Literally couldn't wait for the next episode and that very rarely happens anymore, anime or otherwise.

Trouble now is, do I go to the manga for my fix or suffer the agonising wait for (or if there's) a second season?

There is definitely going to be a second season, so if you have the willpower to wait about two years, then stick with the anime. The manga is good, but I prefer the anime. The only reason I caved was because I was desperate to know what happened next.

I'm holding out. I know it'll be excellent when it does hit.

I'm wavering, I read the blurb for volume nine of the manga and after that spoiler I really want to know what happens next because it sounds like things are going to get insane again fast.
